I was born and raised in Kraków, Poland, and have called the U.S. home for the past 30 years—first in South Bend, Indiana, and now in Port Charlotte, Florida, since 2019. My journey in medicine began after leaving Poland in 1988, gaining refugee status in Spain, and later moving to Canada. After passing the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, I completed my residency in Family Practice in South Bend, where I cared for patients for nearly three decades before moving to Florida. I chose medicine because I wanted to help those in need, and every good day at work is one where I know I’ve made a difference—whether by easing a patient’s pain or simply being there to listen.
