I was born in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba and moved to Miami in 2005 to begin my nursing career. For the past sixteen years I have lived in the Hialeah area. Being a Cuban woman, I can speak to patients in both Spanish and English. Spanish is my first and preferred language, but I can effectively communicate in English. I understand a lot of immigrant patients’ culture and can effectively communicate with them in a way that makes them feel understood. Because of my connection to the community, I can educate patients on how to make better health decisions. I decided to go into medicine because I wanted to serve the community and have always been inclined to help people. I fell in love with nursing during my first semester as a student and still read nursing books in my free time. A good day at work means working with a good team of people who can communicate effectively and prioritize providing the best service to our patients. A good work environment where both patients a co-workers can feel comfortable is important. I want you to know that at Sanitas your health is our priority. When I take off my coat, I love to read. I mostly reread a lot of my nursing books and find that I always learn something new. I also really enjoy gardening; my favorite plants to keep are orchids. I also value spending quality time with my family.
