As a doctor at Sanitas, it’s a good day at work when I see a patient who, after years of uncontrolled diabetes, decides to take their medications to lower their A1c. It reinforces the fact that if they follow the medical plan, I’m on the right path with their treatment. I was born in Isfahan, Iran and though I speak Persian and Spanish, English is my preferred language. I chose medicine as a career to help people and challenge myself with ongoing learning in the healthcare field. Being adventurous and looking for new opportunities, I’ve lived in and experienced the rich and varied cultures of Iran, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Each place has taught me unique lessons. In Mexico, I developed special bonds with the warm and caring communities; working in primary care in Texas, I managed patients’ chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism and gout. Outside of work, I keep fit with cycling, swimming and jogging, and preparing healthy meals. I enjoy studying the topics and questions in medical journals and publications, and I like to educate myself about current events and read unbiased news from different sources.
