I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba where I went to medical school and completed my residency in pediatrics. Due to both personal and political beliefs, I fled Cuba in 1994 in pursuit of fulfilling my professional goals. Before arriving in the United States, I spent six months in Guantanamo Bay serving the local population where I was reassured in my ability to provide the best health care possible. I have since returned “home” to Florida and look forward to continuing work with my patients taking care of their conditions. My native language is Spanish, but I am also fluent in English. I’ve found that being bilingual helps me communicate better with my diverse patients. I decided to go into medicine because I’ve always had a strong compassion for others and felt a sense of duty to help people in need. I’ve found that the years I’ve spent dedicated to medicine have been the most fulfilling of my life. A good day at work means that I had the privilege of helping my patients feel better by spending time with them, educating them and their families, and helping them improve their health in every way possible. I want you to know that at Sanitas we work with our patients to promote better health and wellness by providing high quality care in a compassionate environment. When I take off my coat, I like to travel with my wife, spend time with family and friends, swim, and ride my bike.
