I was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, and now call Miami, Florida, home. I moved to the United States for political reasons and pursued my medical education at the University of Medicine Robert Wood Johnson in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, graduating with honors. I also completed my residency in Hematology in Havana, Cuba. My passion for medicine began early in life. Growing up, I cared for my grandfather, who lived with epilepsy and required regular medical attention. Witnessing the dedication and compassion of the doctors who treated him left a deep impression on me. By high school, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others through medicine. For me, a good day at work means making a real difference—whether by improving a patient’s condition, providing comfort to their family, or simply offering hope and peace of mind.
