Understanding the HIV Clinical Pathways Program at Sanitas Medical Center
Doctor's advice /

Summary
At Sanitas Medical Center in Broward County, we’ve created a special program to help people stay healthy in regards to living with or preventing HIV. This program is called the HIV Clinical Pathways Program. It’s designed to guide patients every step of the way—from getting tested, to starting treatment, to finding emotional and social support. Our goal is to make sure everyone has the care they need to live a healthy and full life. In this article, you’ll learn what the pathway includes, who it’s for, and why it’s so important.
What is the HIV HIV Clinical Pathways Program?
The HIV Clinical Pathways is a program designed to help people with suspected or confirmed HIV. It gives full support through every step of the process, from diagnosis to treatment, and even emotional and social help. Whether someone just got tested or has lived with HIV for years, this program is here to help them live better and longer.
Why does this program matter?
HIV is a virus that weakens the body’s ability to fight infections. But with early care and the right treatment, people with HIV can stay healthy for many years. Sanitas created this program to:
- Help more people get tested for HIV
- Start treatment quickly if they test positive
- Offer PrEP (a medicine to prevent HIV) to people who are at high risk of transmission
- Make sure all patients get the emotional and social support they need
By following the HIV Clinical Pathways Program, we can improve health and make a big difference in many lives.
What are the benefits of the Sanitas HIV Clinical Pathways Program?
At Sanitas, our HIV Clinical Pathways Programs are designed to make your health care experience easier, faster, and more supportive. Here’s how the program helps you:
- Personalized, complete care: You’ll have a dedicated care team that includes a doctor trained in HIV, a care coordinator, a counselor, a pharmacist, and more—all working together to support your health.
- Quick and easy testing: If you think you might have HIV or want to protect yourself, we offer fast, private HIV testing right in our office. No need to wait long for answers.
- Help to prevent HIV with PrEP: If you’re at risk, we can offer PrEP—a daily medicine that helps prevent HIV. It’s a safe and powerful way to protect your health.
- Fast results and treatment: If you need care, we act quickly. From test results to starting treatment, we move fast so you can feel better sooner.
- Emotional and social support: We care about your whole life, not just your medical needs. We can help you find support for mental health, housing, transportation, and more—because staying healthy means feeling supported, too.
- A doctor focused on you: If you’re living with HIV, you’ll be connected with a primary care doctor who specializes in HIV care and will guide you every step of the way.
- Everything in one place: You can get your tests, talk to your doctor, and get support all in one location. That means less stress and more convenience for you.
What happens during the HIV care pathway?
- Fast and simple HIV testing: We offer rapid HIV testing at our Central Broward Office. The test is quick and easy, and results come back fast. People can get tested if:
- They ask for an HIV test
- They may need PrEP
- They show symptoms that could mean HIV
This helps us rule out HIV quickly and give people the care they need without delay.
- On-Site blood work: All the lab tests you need can be done right in our office. This helps us move faster to understand your health and start the right treatment for you.
- Immediate access to PrEP or HIV care: If your test is negative but you're at high risk, we can start you on PrEP quickly. If your test is positive, our trained HIV team will begin treatment right away.
- Assigned HIV-trained doctor: Every patient who tests positive for HIV will be connected to a specially trained doctor who focuses on HIV care. You’ll get expert treatment and someone who understands your journey.
- Coordination with Health plans and providers: We work with your insurance company and local health partners to make sure your care is covered and easy to access.
- Mental health and community support: Living with HIV isn’t just about taking medicine. We help with emotional support, counseling, and connecting you with resources for housing, food, and more—so you feel supported in every way.
- Training for Sanitas doctors: We make sure all our doctors are trained to talk openly about HIV, offer testing, and get patients started on care. No matter which doctor you see, you’ll be in good hands.
